NFL Media Group VP/Communications Alex Riethmiller said that Dolphins merchandise sales on NFLShop.com from Dec. 1-19 were up 40% "from the same period last year." In Miami, Michelle Kaufman notes Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill's jersey was the "highest seller among women and children in the state of Florida this season" at Dick's Sporting Goods retailers. Meanwhile, the Dolphins' team store at Hard Rock Stadium had the "highest jersey sales of the season on Nov. 27, during the 49ers game, which is typically the time of year when sales have dwindled." Sales were up 38% that week (MIAMI HERALD, 12/22).

BORN IN THE U.S.A.? In Boston, Donna Goodison notes three California residents "filed a proposed class-action lawsuit, claiming New Balance has sold hundreds of sneakers to California consumers that are misrepresented as 'Made in the USA' when they include a 'substantial percentage of foreign-made components.'" The complaint filed with the U.S. District Court in California says that the sales "violate California laws including those governing false advertising and unfair competition" (BOSTON HERALD, 12/22).
