College Facility Notes: South Carolina's Tanner Wants More Premium Seating At Williams-Brice

SECCOUNTRY.com's Cody Pace noted South Carolina AD Ray Tanner yesterday discussed some "potential renovations to Williams-Brice Stadium" in an appearance on Columbia-based WNKT-FM. Among the things Tanner would like to see done is "adding more premium seating." Tanner said there is "not enough," and the demand "certainly outweighs what we have." Tanner: "We have 18 or so suites on the west site. We have club areas and The Zone (on the south side). We don’t have any on the east side. ... We can do suites and clubs in the middle area (of the east side) without compromising the lower or upper deck" (SECCOUNTRY.com, 12/7).

SCARLET FIELDS: In Newark, Ryan Dunleavy cited sources as saying that Rutgers "will replace the two grass practice fields" outside of the Hale Center football complex with "best-in-class surfaces featuring the latest technology in maintenance and care." The two upgraded fields "will be a part of a fenced-in remodeling of the entire practice complex." Sources said that the project is being funded by boosters Jeff and Amy Towers with the "largest private single gift in athletic department history," and that the "fields will be completed in time for training camp in August" (NJ.com, 12/7).

NOTES
: Missouri's athletic department yesterday announced that a "confidential donor made a gift" of $1M toward the "proposed football facility in the south end zone at Memorial Stadium." The "latest donation" pushes Missouri over the $70M mark in fundraising for the $75M project (K.C. STAR, 12/8)....Tennessee-based commercial developer Steve Johnson has donated more than $1M to the Virginia Tech athletic department for "construction of the Virginia Tech Indoor Practice Facility" (BRISTOL HERALD COURIER, 12/8).
