In N.Y., Claire Atkinson cited sources as saying that Accretive LLC Managing Partner Edgar Bronfman Jr., who last week had a takeover offer rejected by Time Inc. BOD, had some "big plans for the titles at Time Inc.," and a "vision for SI in particular." Sources said that Bronfman had "designs on broadening the print magazine’s appeal by creating spinoff events, such as a reality TV show and perhaps even a 'Victoria’s Secret'- style catwalk fashion show, moving it far beyond its sports origins" (N.Y. POST, 12/5).

PENALTY BOX: In Phoenix, Finnerty & Collom noted FS Arizona's Todd Walsh "was not part of the coverage team" for the Coyotes game on Saturday night "amid allegations from a woman that he launched into a racially-tinged tirade after a minor automobile scrape." The RSN said that it was "investigating the incident." Walsh's absence was "not addressed during the pregame broadcast" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 12/4).

ON THE RIGHT TRACK: In Indianapolis, David Woods notes USA Track & Field's new eight-year media rights deal with NBC is "groundbreaking for Olympic sports, which often pay production costs just to get on the air." The agreement "reduces USTAF costs" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 12/5).
