Mark Cuban Says Limited Cable Distribution In Dallas-Ft. Worth Hurting Mavs' TV Ratings

The Mavericks currently have the worst record in the NBA at 3-15, and the team is having a "challenge attracting and keeping TV-viewing eyeballs," according to Brad Townsend of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban said, "Anytime we're struggling, our ratings go way down. Anytime we start winning, our ratings go up." Cuban pointed out that the Dallas-Ft. Worth market "has a lower percentage of cable-wired homes than most major markets." Only 45.8% of DFW homes as of this month "get wired cable TV delivery," compared to the top market of N.Y. at 84.2%. Those figures "do not include satellite subscriptions," but even with satellite added, Dallas "lags well behind other major markets." Cuban: "Even when our ratings [are] good they're not necessarily analogous because cable (and) satellite penetration in [DFW] is not very good." Cuban is also "adamant that his vocal support of Hillary Clinton leading to the presidential election hasn't 'turned off' viewers" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 12/2).
