Revis Sues Former Agents Over Elevated Commission Fees On Endorsement Deal

Jets CB Darrelle Revis is "suing his former agents for allegedly raising their commission fee on an endorsement deal without his consent," according to Rich Cimini of ESPN N.Y. Revis is "accusing agents Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod of fraud, conversion, breach of fiduciary duty and civil theft." Revis "claims they hid a clause in an energy drink endorsement agreement that would raise their fee" from 10-50%. Schwartz last year asked Revis to "sign off on an addendum" to their original agreement. But the suit alleges Schwartz "never explained the document" or gave Revis a "copy to read." The suit also accuses Schwartz and Feinsod of "secretly using money from Revis' endorsement checks to pay another attorney." Revis fired both agents last May. Attorney Mario Aieta, who represents Schwartz and Feinsod, said that Revis' lawsuit is an "attempt to avoid paying agent fees on the free-agent contract he signed" with the Jets in March '15. Aieta: "Nobody objected to (the endorsement deal) until recent events." Schwartz and Feinsod also have "yet to receive their fees" on Revis' salary for this season (ESPNNY.com, 11/21). In N.Y., Manish Mehta writes the lawsuit is "over a high four-figure/low-five figure amount, which makes it that much more puzzling." Mehta: "Why would a player with about $50 million in the bank make a stink over such a relatively nominal amount of money?" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 11/22). In Newark, Darryl Slater notes this is "just the latest battle between Revis and his ex-agents." In September, Revis said they took "a shot" at him with an anonymously sourced story that reported he was out of shape. Check out Revis' 28-page complaint (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 11/22).
