Franchises

Franchise Notes

In L.A., Kevin Baxter writes Galaxy coach Bruce Arena’s "expected departure" to become USMNT coach leaves the team with openings at both coach and GM "three weeks before the busiest week on the MLS calendar." The MLS trade window opens "just hours" after the MLS Cup final on Dec. 10, "followed by the expansion draft, free-agent negotiations, and the waiver and re-entry drafts" (L.A. TIMES, 11/22).

WILL HEADS ROLL? In San Jose, Tim Kawakami writes if 49ers CEO Jed York "isn't considering major changes, and reassessing his own decisions, why would any 49ers fan ever want to watch them again?" Kawakami: "Should [coach Chip] Kelly be fired at the end the season, should general manager Trent Baalke be fired, or should they both be fired? ... Nothing else can be done until Jed York decides what to do about Kelly and Baalke" (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 11/21).

THE CHEAP SEATS: In Cleveland, Kevin Kleps reports the Browns' 0-11 start to the season is a "mess for brokers, but a gift for fans looking to buy $5 seats for an NFL game." Ohio-based Amazing Tickets Owner Mark Klang said that the market for the Browns' last three home games against the Giants, Bengals and Chargers is "disastrous." Klang said that is the "low point" for the team's ticket market since the franchise returned in '99 (CRAIN'S CLEVELAND BUSINESS, 11/21 issue).
