Mavericks Introduce New Digital Platforms With Own Roku Channel, Live Streaming Apps

The Mavericks have "introduced three new digital platforms to distribute content to fans around the globe," as the team has "launched its own Roku channel while also becoming the first NBA franchise to utilize the live streaming app Live.ly and the music video community app Musical.ly," according to Brandon Costa of SPORTS VIDEO GROUP. The Mavericks' Roku channel will "feature behind-the-scenes videos from players and coaches," longform content like the '11 NBA Championship parade and highlights from previous games. Live.ly and Musical.ly will "showcase Mavericks players" behind-the-scenes and show off their personalities. The team "regularly uses Live.ly to live stream practices and pre-game warm-ups with streams garnering anywhere between 15,000-20,000 views" on average. The Musical.ly platform is "already off to a strong start with over 103,000 fans registered to receive Mavericks’ alerts" (SPORTSVIDEO.org, 11/15).
