Cristiano Ronaldo Signs Lifetime Deal With Nike Reportedly Worth $24M Annually

La Liga club Real Madrid MF Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a "massive new deal with Nike" that will last for the duration of his life, according to Marissa Payne of the WASHINGTON POST. Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias reported that the deal will pay Ronaldo around $24M annually, even after he quits playing. He could "stand to make upward” of $1B in total from Nike. Ronaldo in a video said, “I have to say that Nike is the best, for me.” Payne noted Cavaliers F LeBron James is “the only other athlete rumored to have a lifetime contract with Nike.” Ronaldo “surpassed boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. this year as the richest athlete" on Forbes' annual list (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 11/8). In London, Tom Bassam wrote David Beckham has “shown the value in keeping a high-profile footballer on the books post-retirement to adidas and now rivals Nike appear to be moving in the same direction” (DAILYMAIL.co.uk, 11/8).
