Indians' Run To World Series Boosting Season-Ticket Sales, Other Financials For '17

The Indians' run to the World Series has provided "all sorts of financial benefits" for the team, including in the season-ticket department, according to Kevin Kleps of CRAIN’S CLEVELAND BUSINESS. In the five days between clinching the ALCS and the start of the World Series, the Indians “sold 200 season tickets (full-season equivalents)” for ’17. Overall, the club has “added 1,100 new FSEs" for '17 -- a 65% jump from '16 -- and the Indians’ "current total of 9,300 full season-ticket holders is 10% above their final total” for the ‘16 season. The team has “doubled its number of new accounts (to 1,300), and its 4,200 total accounts marks a 20% jump from the end of the regular season.” Indians Senior Dir of Ticket Sales & Service Tim Salcer said, “We are light years ahead of where we were.” Indianapolis-based sports marketing agency Charge Founder & President Ken Ungar said that “increases in season tickets, merchandise and sponsorships ‘will run in tandem’ now that the Indians have made it this far.” Ungar: “There’s different constituencies with each level. Merchandise is about your avid fan. Tickets are about all fans. Sponsorships are about the corporate affinity. You’re hitting different audience segments. I’ll bet with each day in the World Series, no matter how the Indians do, all three of those will increase” (CRAIN’S CLEVELAND BUSINESS, 10/31 issue).
