San Antonio-Based Grocer H-E-B Enlists Former Spurs For Latest TV Ad Campaign

Grocery chain H-E-B has "called on a trio of Spurs legends -- George Gervin, David Robinson and Tim Duncan -- to help pitch its products in a new television campaign," according to W. Scott Bailey of the SAN ANTONIO BUSINESS JOURNAL. Gervin has "received as much, if not more, interest from companies seeking product endorsers in retirement as he did" while he was playing. In April, Gatorade "released a television spot featuring" him and Bulls G Dwyane Wade as they "pitched the beverage company's Frost drink." H-E-B began premiering "three of its six new commercial featuring current and former Spurs" on Thursday night during the team's road game in Sacramento. The other three spots will "debut during the Spurs' home game" against the Pelicans on Saturday. The roster of "current Spurs players who will appear" includes F Kawhi Leonard, G Tony Parker, C LaMarcus Aldridge, G Manu Ginobili, G Danny Green, G Patty Mills and C Pau Gasol. H-E-B VP/Marketing & Advertising Cory Basso indicated soon after Duncan retired this summer that the grocer was "leaving open the door for him to continue to help promote the company" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/27).
