Ready To Launch: Rockets' James Harden Unveils Adidas Shoe, Clothing Line

Rockets G James Harden's adidas apparel line and the Harden Vol. I shoe were unveiled Saturday at an event that was "largely a celebration, complete with a fashion show and concert,” according to Jonathan Feigen of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. Harden will “wear the Pioneer model in the season opener” at the Lakers tomorrow. The clothing, “including a hoodie that he said he designed to hide his beard ... will be on sale in the fall.” The shoes are “scheduled to retail for $140 beginning Dec. 3.” Harden said that he was “given the freedom to design the shoe as he wished, sharing ideas and making changes for more than a year before settling on the products on display Saturday.” He said that there were no limits” on his input. Harden: "I just sent them a text or sent them an email, like ‘Hey, I like this painting, or something.’ We would make a collage and start picking out ideas. It was a long process. I'm excited about it. This is my first one. There's a lot more to come.” He added that the shoe “would be unique.” adidas VP/Basketball Design Brian Foresta said that Harden had input "including the details of what Harden wanted on the shoe to something very traditional that he did not.” Foresta said, “In the beginning, he said, 'I want people to know it's my shoe without a logo on it. Everybody kind of stepped back for a second. People sign contracts for logos. He said, ‘People should know it's me without a logo on top of it'” (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 10/23).

PORZINGIS OFFICIALLY ON BOARD: Knicks F Kristaps Porzingis this morning formally announced he has signed a multiyear deal with adidas.
