Media Notes

CBS Chair, President & CEO Les Moonves yesterday said that he "'absolutely' believed he could be pitching networks to cover competition from video game leagues" such as "Call of Duty." Moonves said of Activision Blizzard's franchise video game, "There are 40 million active users. That's as many as preseason NFL (audience)" (N.Y. POST, 10/20).

SPEAKING SPANISH: The Spurs announced that KXTN-FM "will serve as the franchise's new official Spanish-language radio station." As part of the partnership, Univision San Antonio will have the rights to "broadcast all Spurs games on KXTN." Spurs play-by-play broadcaster Paul Castro will "continue to serve as the Spanish voice of the Spurs." Spurs Spanish-language broadcasts had been carried on KCOR-AM for 22 years (MYSANANTONIO.com, 10/19).

ROAD TRIP: IMS Productions this season will "provide a customized production truck for the Pac-12 Networks." The truck will be "used for nearly 100 Pac-12 live sporting events in the current school year, including baseball, softball, lacrosse, water polo, and track and field competitions." Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but sources "pegged it as a low- to mid-six-figure annual deal" (IBJ.com, 10/19).

BIG COLTS BROTHER: A Colts fan has filed a lawsuit against the team claiming the Colts' official app has been "eavesdropping on his personal conversations." The fan claims the app he downloaded to his smart phone in '12 has been "using technology that secretly turns on audio as he goes about his daily, private life outside of Lucas Oil Stadium." The suit names YinzCam, which developed the app; Cincinnati-based Lisnr, which created the technology used on the app; and the Colts as defendants (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 10/20).
