Cubs-Dodgers Delivers Another L.A. Local Record For FS1; A-Rod Continues Impressing

FS1 last night drew a 4.4 overnight rating for the Dodgers’ 6-0 win over the Cubs in Game 3 of the NLCS. That number is up from a 2.1 overnight in ’14 for Game 3 of the Giants-Cardinals NLCS, which aired in the 4:00pm ET window. Yesterday’s Dodgers-Cubs game peaked at a 5.3 rating between 9:30-10:00pm. Chicago earned a 20.4 local rating for the game, while L.A. drew an 11.7, the best ever for an FS1 program in the market. Meanwhile, TBS yesterday afternoon in the 4:00pm window drew a 2.2 overnight for the Blue Jays’ 5-1 win over the Indians in Game 4 of their ALCS. Blue Jays-Indians, which was the top-rated cable program during the window, peaked at a 2.9 rating from 6:30-6:45pm. Cleveland-Akron earned a 24.3 local rating for the game (Josh Carpenter, Assistant Editor).

WHO KNEW? SPORTING NEWS' Michael McCarthy noted Alex Rodriguez in his second season as a postseason analyst has been the "breakout star of FS1's studio coverage," as he "knows today's pitchers and hitters." McCarthy wrote he learns "a lot about hitting just by watching" Rodriguez, Pete Rose and Frank Thomas (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 10/18).

WE CAN WORK IT OUT: In N.Y., Bob Raissman cited sources as saying that Mets broadcaster Gary Cohen's SNY contract is "set to expire" by the end of '16. While Cohen leaving the Mets booth and his partners -- Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez -- is a "longshot, nothing can ever be ruled out until a new deal is signed." Sources said that Cohen’s reps and SNY execs have "already discussed a new multi-year deal but nothing has been finalized" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 10/16).
