Franchise Notes

In Atlanta, Tim Tucker notes the Braves are selling “standing room only” tickets for Sunday’s final game at Turner Field against the Tigers. The tickets priced at $20 apiece “went on sale at mid-morning” yesterday. Buyers of the “limited number” of standing room tickets “won’t have a reserved seat but can stand in designated areas within the sold-out stadium.” Pregame and postgame ceremonies "are planned Sunday” (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 9/27).

OVER THE HILL: In Houston, Jenny Dial Creech noted while the Rockets have "lofty goals for what will happen on the court this season, the organization has big plans for what's happening off the floor" as the franchise turns 50 this year. Rockets VP/Marketing Ken Sheirr said that fans can "expect year-long celebrations for the milestone." Sheirr: "We intend on bringing out lots of former players. We are going to celebrate this. It's the golden anniversary. This only happens once in our history." Creech noted the team will also have a "50-year anniversary patch on its jersey this season" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 9/23).

ON THE RIGHT TRACK: Nuggets President & Governor Josh Kroenke said that this is the "most pleased he has been with the state of the franchise since the 57-win team" of '12-13. But in Denver, Christopher Dempsey notes the Nuggets "have not been back to the playoffs since." Kroenke: "I like the direction of the train. I like the speed and direction of the train. We needed to reinvent who we were last year, culturally, in our locker room as well as establish a new identity on the court." He added, "This year is going to be a growth year" (DENVER POST, 9/27).
