LES GETTING MORE?
Viacom is "back on the hunt" for a new CEO and that person could be CBS Chair, President & CEO LES MOONVES. When Viacom's controlling shareholder SUMNER REDSTONE "separated his media conglomerate, it was to give the faster-growing Viacom room to run without the sleepier CBS holding it back," but it has turned out that CBS is the "better-managed operation." Moonves achieved that success by having a "keen eye" for hit shows and securing rights to NFL games. A "creative spark is needed at Viacom as the media landscape lurches through difficult transitions" (N.Y. TIMES, 9/22).
