Broncos Look To Sell Off Mile High Stadium Naming Rights By End Of This Year

The Broncos "will make quarterly payments starting in October to own the naming rights of their stadium, but the team hopes to have a new naming-rights buyer by the end of the year," according to Monica Mendoza of the DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL. Until then, the stadium "will retain the name Sports Authority Field at Mile High despite the sporting-goods retailer's bankruptcy." Metro Football Stadium BOD Chair Ray Baker said that despite the Broncos' naming-rights payments, the team "has no intention of being a long-time owner of the stadium naming rights." He said, "They would love to secure a name as soon as possible." Baker added that the Broncos are "looking to get at least a 10-year contract." He said that he is "confident that the contract will be worth more" than the original $120M negotiated 20 years ago (BIZJOURNALS.com, 9/20).
