Discovery Communications named BBC Dir of Digital RALPH RIVERA to the newly created position of Managing Dir of Eurosport Digital. Rivera will report to Exec VP/Int'l Development & Digital MICHAEL LANG, effective Sept. 26 (Discovery).

The site named Slam magazine Editor-in-Chief BEN OSBORNE to the same position, while MATT SULLIVAN was named Dir of Editorial Innovation & Special Projects and RYAN SMITH was named Dir of Content Design with a focus on “special projects and innovation." Finally, former Grantland writer and N.Y. Times sports reporter JONATHAN ABRAMS has joined the site “as a special projects writer” (VARIETY.com, 9/6).
