MLB Attendance Down Nearly 2% Heading Into Stretch Run; Blue Jays Lead In Gains

Entering the final month of the regular season, MLB teams are averaging 30,354 fans per game, down almost 2% compared to the same period last year. AL attendance is relatively flat, with the Blue Jays, Rangers and Astros leading gains at the gate. The Blue Jays lead all AL teams in attendance and have baseball's largest increase at over 26%. At Globe Life Park in Arlington, the Rangers also are experiencing double-digit growth at the gate (+10%). With the biggest drop among AL teams, the Twins are in the midst of a sixth straight season of lower attendance (dating back to the opening of Target Field) and the club's lowest figure since '05. The Orioles (-12%) and A's (-11) are also seeing sharp drops at the gate.
