Wells Fargo Securities and investment firm Barclays Capital yesterday agreed to pay $25.6M to "resolve their part in the contentious dispute over who bears blame" for CURT SCHILLING's "failed 38 Studios video-game venture." The joint settlement "might amount to the largest, single amount Rhode Islanders collect" (PROVIDENCE JOURNAL, 8/24). Schilling has said that he is "looking forward to his day in court to tell his side of what brought down his company" (PROVIDENCE JOURNAL, 8/24).

TUNE IN: Pro Football HOFer MICHAEL STRAHAN has sold "HOBBS," his first scripted TV show, to ABC. The drama "follows Tommy Hobbs, a former Heisman Trophy winner who joins the Miami police force after not being drafted by the NFL." Writer MICHAEL CALEO will "pen the script and exec produce the ABC Studios drama alongside Strahan" (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 8/23).

WORKING THE PHONES: A Big 12 school official said that '12 GOP presidential nominee MITT ROMNEY has "called power brokers," including Oklahoma State booster T. BOONE PICKENS, "lobbying for support for BYU to join the conference." Romney "is a BYU grad" (MYSTATESMAN.com, 8/23).

NAMES: LSU men's basketball coach JOHNNY JONES announced that all proceeds from A Sept. 16 golf tournament he will host with Basketball HOFer SHAQUILLE O'NEAL in Springfield, La., will go toward "helping out flood victims" in the state (THEADVOCATE.com, 8/23)....Thunder C STEVEN ADAMS recently "gathered up some Thunder teammates and coaches to meet with kids and families at the Ronald McDonald House in Auckland, New Zealand." The gathering "was to support a charity auction which raised $16,000 toward building a new basketball court at the site" (NEWSOK.com, 8/24)....Lunch with Mavericks Owner MARK CUBAN "is the prize in an auction being hosted on the Charity Buzz website," and all money raised through the auction "will go to the OnePulse Foundation, which raises money for the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting."
