The Blue Jays have fired the "two top figures" in their scouting department -- Scouting Dir BRIAN PARKER and National Cross-Checker BLAKE DAVIS. Parker "oversaw the organization's last four drafts." First-year Blue Jays President & CEO MARK SHAPIRO made a "slew of changes to the Jays’ player-development ranks in the off-season, but had not meddled much with the scouting department until now" (TORONTO STAR, 8/19).

LET'S PUT THIS IN WRITING: The Las Vegas NHL expansion team formally named advisor MURRAY CRAVEN Senior VP. His "already-defined role has him overseeing the construction and operation of the team’s practice facility." He also is tasked with "establishing a relationship with the AHL team." Craven will "oversee projects at the request" of GM GEORGE MCPHEE (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 8/19).

EXECS: The Flames hired former Coyotes Exec VP & GM DON MALONEY as a pro scout (CP, 8/17)....Rodale named Nike North America Digital Brand Dir JESSICA MURPHY Managing Dir for its Runner's World publication (Rodale)....Auburn Univ. promoted DAVID MINES to Senior Associate AD/Internal Operations & Inclusion (AL.com, 8/18)....Tulane Univ. named Ivy League Associate Exec Dir of Communications & External Relations SCOTTIE RODGERS Associate AD/Strategic Communications (Tulane)....The Big West Conference announced the following promotions: ERICA MONTEABARO to Senior Associate Commissioner/Institutional Services; STEVE CHEN to Assistant Commissioner/Branding & External Affairs; MELISSA DECKERS to Dir of Marketing; and OLIVIA PHELPS to Assistant Dir of Communications (Big West).
