Point-Of-Sale Vendor Bypass Signs With First Data To Use Its Systems At Sports Venues

Point-of-sale vendor Bypass has signed a deal with First Data, the leading processor of credit card transactions, to integrate its Clover-branded hardware systems at sports facilities. The partnership extends to Clover’s data analytics package accessible to Bypass’ 85 teams and 145 venues nationwide. For First Data, a $15B company that processes 50% of the world’s credit card transactions, this marks the first time its products have been installed at arenas and stadiums. A big test of the integrated systems takes place Saturday at the Real Madrid-Chelsea soccer match at Michigan Stadium, which could potentially set a North American record for soccer attendance. A crowd of more than 100,000 is expected in Ann Arbor, and Sodexo, the Univ. of Michigan’s concessionaire, will operate 372 Clover terminals running Bypass software for the event. The combined systems were first tested in May for a Beyonce concert at the Rose Bowl, as well as Copa America matches in June in Pasadena, said Bypass co-Founder & CEO Brandon Lloyd. Bypass was founded in '10 and its investors include Nolan Ryan, Red McCombs and Casey Wasserman.
