In Denver, Tamara Chuang noted Dish Network co-Founder, BOD Chair & CEO Charlie Ergen, whose company is in a carriage dispute with NFL Network, "sounded positive" about both the channel and NFL RedZone returning "before football season." NFL Net "went dark for Dish customers June 16" (DENVER POST, 7/22).

THE NEW BOSS: New Barstool Sports CEO Erika Nardini appeared on CHEDDAR.com to discuss taking over the site, saying the staff has "no idea what they’re doing for the most part." Nardini: "I hope to know what I’m doing and we’re just going to tackle it one post, one partnership at a time." She said the site has a “hugely passionate audience, a ton of history around this brand (and) they are a very unique company in that they wear their inside outside and that’s part of the appeal." Nardini: "These guys ... go after everything ... and there's something to that I’m looking to harness" (CHEDDAR.vhx.tv, 7/21).

NO MORE MIXED SIGNALS: The Thunder announced Thursday that the team has "switched Tulsa radio affiliates" -- moving from KTBZ-AM back to WWLS-FM. In Tulsa, Bill Haisten notes KTBZ "had been the Thunder’s local radio partner for three seasons." The Thunder with the move benefit "from the strength of FM signals" (TULSA WORLD, 7/22).

PEOPLE & PERSONALITIES: Annie Apple, the mother of NFL Giants rookie CB Eli Apple, will "write a weekly column for SI.com starting this fall." The column "comes after Apple's well-received guest column for the website earlier this year." She also will "be a contributor to ESPN's 'Sunday NFL Countdown' this season" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 7/22)....espnW this week announced the additions of Kavitha Davidson and Katie Barnes to its team. Davidson, who will be based in N.Y., will serve as a writer and will also contribute to ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com. Barnes joins espnW as a Bristol-based writer/reporter (espnW).
