D-Backs' Paul Goldschmidt Endorses Chef's Cut Real Jerky, Takes Equity Stake In Brand

D-backs 1B Paul Goldschmidt and several other athletes, including Red Sox DH David Ortiz, golfer Kyle Reifers and Broncos LB Von Miller, are "investing in and endorsing" Chef's Cut Real Jerky, according to Mike Sunnucks of the PHOENIX BUSINESS JOURNAL. Goldschmidt said that he started eating Chef's Cut "during spring training earlier this year before he was approached to invest and endorse." He "likes the high-protein content in the jerky products." Goldschmidt "will be part of advertising and marketing pitches for the jerky company" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/20). Goldschmidt said that his partnership with Chef’s Cut Real Jerky "marks the first time that he has taken equity in a company." FORBES' Darren Heitner noted the deal is "one of very few companies that Goldschmidt has worked with outside of traditional baseball-related brands." Goldschmidt: "I’ve turned down a bunch of things that aren’t organic partnerships just to focus on baseball. I don’t have ten other brands that I’m working with" (FORBES.com, 7/20).
