Dwyane Wade, Li-Ning Release New Shoes With Shoutout To NFL Teams In Chicago, Miami

Bulls G Dwyane Wade's shoe partner -- China-based Li-Ning -- "released the Way of Wade 4 combo pack at a Fanatics store in New York last week, one in Bears orange with a map of Chicago printed in the insole and the other in Dolphins aqua with a Miami map," according to Phil Thompson of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. The shoes "are sold only together for $333." The timing, which saw Wade sign with the Bulls on the same day the shoe came out, "led some fans to question whether the two events were a natural concurrence." Jessica Gomez, who serves as Marketing Dir for the Way of Wade brand within Li-Ning, said it was a coincidence, "which is the eerie part of it" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 7/12). Meanwhile, in N.Y., Ari Gilberg noted it was discovered yesterday that Li-Ning "misspelled" Wade's name in a print ad. To unveil the Way of Wade 5, Li-Ning made an ad that "shows a screaming Wade with the text 'MAKE YOUR OWN WAY' on one line, and 'DWAYNE WADE' right below it" (NYDAILYNEWS.com, 7/11).

STRIKE A POSE: WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY's Jean Palmieri noted N.Y. Fashion Week: Men's "has identified its slate of ambassadors for the spring show that kicked off" yesterday. Wade, Knicks F Carmelo Anthony and snowboarder Shaun White were each on the list (WWD.com, 7/11).
