Papi Does Preach: David Ortiz Leads MLB Jersey Sales Heading Into All-Star Game

Red Sox DH David Ortiz leads MLB's jersey sales list through the first half of the season, marking the second time the retiring All-Star has topped the rankings. Ortiz previously led the list following the '13 offseason, which came after his third World Series win with the team. The Cubs are well-represented with three players in the top 10, including 3B Kris Bryant (No. 2) and 1B Anthony Rizzo (No. 4). The top five is rounded out by Dodgers P Clayton Kershaw (No. 3) and Angels CF Mike Trout (No. 5). The chart is based on sales at MLBShop.com from Jan. 1 through the end of play on Sunday (MLB). In N.Y., Mark Fischer noted no Yankees are on the chart, which is "not all that surprising ... considering the Bronx hasn't had a bonafide superstar" since Derek Jeter retired in '14 (NYDAILYNEWS.com, 7/11).
