Brewers Attendance This Season Consistent With Expectations Stemming From Rebuild

The Brewers' attendance at Miller Park this season is "down an average of 3,531 fans per game from last year, the fifth-highest drop in" MLB, but the figures are "playing out as expected" for the club, according to Tom Haudricourt of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The team is averaging 27,858 fans per game, its "lowest figure" since '05. However, the Brewers "made no bones over the winter about embarking on a large-scale rebuilding plan." Brewers COO Rick Schlesinger: "If you look at the totality of tickets sold, including games yet to be played, we're down about 7%. We're actually doing better than the (current) differential because of advance ticket sales. We're down, there's no question. But from our perspective, we're right where our expectations were for the season." He added, "Our sponsor dollars are very strong. Our suite sales are still very strong. Our media dollars per contract are set and don't decline. So, we have a lot of revenue sources that are staying constant or increasing to partially offset the decline in admission revenues. ... The fans realize we have a plan and share my confidence that we have the right people in place to implement the plan" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 6/28).
