MLB Attendance Down Slightly; Blue Jays Up Big, While Reds See Steep Decline

MLB teams are averaging 29,273 fans per game through Wednesday, down slightly from the same period last year. Six teams have seen double-digit growth at the gate, led by the Blue Jays (+48%). The Dodgers lead all MLB clubs in attendance, averaging 44,908 fans through 31 home games at Chavez Ravine, but down 2.4% to date. With baseball’s best record, the Cubs are averaging 38,350 fans (+16%) at a renovated Wrigley Field. Attendance at Tropicana Field is tracking up 12%, but the Rays continue to have the second-lowest attendance in MLB at 16,189 fans per game, just ahead of the Indians (15,451). The Reds, coming off a season in which Great American Ball Park hosted the All-Star Game, are seeing the sharpest drop among MLB clubs.
