Copa America Averages Nearly 41,000 Fans Through Group Stage, Well Above '15 Gold Cup

The Copa America Centenario averaged 40,912 fans for the 24 group stage matches across 10 venues. The ’15 tournament in Chile averaged 21,842 fans for its group stage matches. Last year, the U.S. hosted the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which averaged 37,423 fans for nine doubleheaders across nine venues during group stage play. Mexico has drawn the most fans of any team with 70,202 fans per game, including the tournament's largest crowd -- 83,263 vs. Jamaica at the Rose Bowl. The largest Mexico group stage match crowd during last year's Gold Cup was a game against Guatemala, which drew 62,910 at Univ. of Phoenix Stadium. The U.S. team averaged 52,707 for its games in Santa Clara, Chicago and Philadelphia, whereas it averaged 29,181 fans for three Gold Cup group stage matches last year in Dallas, Foxborough and K.C. The 11,937 fans in attendance for the Ecuador-Peru matchup at Univ. of Phoenix Stadium has been the tournament’s smallest crowd to date. Two of the three smallest crowds -- Costa Rica-Paraguay and Panama-Bolivia -- were at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium. The U.S. will kick off the quarterfinal round tonight vs. Ecuador at CenturyLink Field.
