Tigers Hold One-Day Flash Sale For Upper-Deck Tickets; Home Attendance Down From '15

The Tigers yesterday "ran a one-day 'flash sale,'" offering upper-deck Comerica Park tickets to tomorrow’s game against the White Sox, and "mezzanine seats to the June 6-8 home series against the Blue Jays, for $6.01," according to Lynn Henning of the DETROIT NEWS. The price corresponded to yesterday’s date, as buyers had until 11:59pm ET to "buy the tickets." Tigers VP/Communications Ron Colangelo said that yesterday's special "was consistent with past promotions in recent seasons, including occasional 'buy one, get one free' offers." The club through 23 home games "is down 42,499 tickets from the same point" in '15 and its home-date average of 29,338 "is a decrease of 1,848 customers per game compared with last season." Henning notes the Tigers "traditionally deal with a box-office challenge during spring for two perpetual reasons." Weather can "be uninviting, while a school year that doesn’t end until early June also tends to hold down traffic, particularly on evenings when the Tigers play midweek night games." The Tigers are "13th among 30 teams in home attendance, and seventh" in the AL (DETROIT NEWS, 6/2).

PARK PASS: In DC, Scott Allen noted the Nationals "recently began selling a $50 NatsPass, which will serve as a standing room only ticket to all 10 home games in June, including a pair of three-game series" against the Cubs and Mets. The NatsPass "will be delivered digitally via the MLB.com Ballpark app for iPhone or Android," is good for "one entry per game and is not transferable." NatsPass holders are "eligible for pregame happy hour specials at the Budweiser Terrace and all general admission giveaways in June" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 6/1).
