Pro Football HOF, Developer Reveal Design For Planned Hotel To Be Built On Canton Grounds

The Pro Football HOF and California-based Industrial Realty Group yesterday "released renderings" of the upscale hotel that will "be built on the grounds of the Canton landmark," according to Kevin Kleps of CRAIN'S CLEVELAND BUSINESS. The design -- created by Dallas-based HKS Architects -- "features a grand lobby with 40-foot ceilings, a huge fireplace, oversized furniture and technology that will accommodate large projection screens." A VIP perch and meeting space will "overlook the lobby, and the hotel's ballroom will have room for 600 guests." The ballroom also will "feature meeting rooms for much smaller gatherings." Construction of the four-star hotel will "begin in September and is scheduled to debut" in May '18. The hotel's guest rooms will "have football themes, and there will be a two-story 'Commissioner Suite,' plus a restaurant that offers a prime view of the village's dining, office and residential spaces" (CRAINSCLEVELAND.com, 5/25). The Canton REPOSITORY notes no decision "has been made on whether the property will carry the flag of a hotel chain or be branded as the Hall of Fame hotel." The property will "be managed" by Crestline Hotels & Resorts, one of the country's "largest independent hospitality management companies." The hotel's restaurant will "have a large operable wall that opens to a view of Hall of Fame Village's 'main street,' which will be home to more restaurants, retailers, offices and residential space" (Canton REPOSITORY, 5/26).
