ESPN Adding More Coverage Of $2M The Basketball Tournament This Summer

ESPN will expand coverage of The Basketball Tournament this summer, which will include carrying the tournament’s championship game live in primetime. ESPN will carry 11 of the tournament's games on TV (three on ESPN, six on ESPN2 and two on ESPNU) and another four will be streamed on ESPN3 as part of a revenue-sharing deal. Seven of the 11 TV games will be carried in primetime. This marks the second year of the tournament, which has doubled its winner-take-all prize money to $2M. The round of 16 and quarterfinals will be held in Philadelphia; the semis and championship game will be held in N.Y. Industry veterans Tony Ponturo and Andy Dolich are advising the tournament on media and sponsorships.
