The Dolphins and Miami-based WQAM-AM today announced they have entered into a long-term partnership, with the station becoming the official flagship radio partner of the franchise. In addition, all Dolphins games will be simulcast on WKIS-FM and feature expanded pregame, halftime and postgame shows (Dolphins). In Miami, Barry Jackson notes WINZ-AM and WBGG-FM "carried Dolphins games the past six seasons and parent company iHeartRadio made a bid to retain rights." WAXY-AM also "met with Dolphins management." The Dolphins instead "decided to accept what is believed to have been a very attractive financial offer from CBS Radio." Jimmy Cefalo, Joe Rose and Pro Football HOFer Bob Griese are "expected to remain the team's radio announcers." WQAM "carried the team's games" from '97-'04 and from '07-09, before the Dolphins "moved to WINZ." WQAM will "not carry a daily Dolphins program, but the team did not ask for one, because the Dolphins' new management did not value that nearly as much as the former management did" (MIAMIHERALD.com, 5/19).
