Minding My Business With NBC Sports & Olympics Senior Dir Lyndsay Signor

Name: Lyndsay Signor

Position: NBC Sports & Olympics Senior Dir of Social Media Marketing

Age: 33

Where I’m from: Altoona, Pa.

Where I call home: Fairfield, Conn.

Focusing on right now: I’m balancing being here on site in Louisville for the Kentucky Derby, as well as focusing on the Stanley Cup Playoffs. We are running in tandem the social media strategies for those, plus the Olympics are less than 100 days away, so we are starting to map out our shorter-term planning for Rio as well.

Best advice: Golf Channel President MIKE MCCARLEY preaches no job or task is too small. Understanding the ins and outs of how things work at every level within a business can really help you do your job effectively.

A must for a new hire: It’s important to have a go-getter attitude regardless of personality, especially in the social industry because of the pace in which social media moves. It’s really important to have people at entry levels with passion as we are constantly adapting and changing with these new platforms

Exec I admire most: Former WNBA President & Orender Unlimited CEO DONNA ORENDER -- she’s someone I met at a mentor event a few years ago and her career path has been incredible. She is such a powerful female executive and I’ve really respected her journey.

First thing in the morning: Checking email then very closely followed by checking Twitter.

Talking Tech: VR is something people, especially in sports, should really be on the lookout for in the next year. Very powerful companies are investing in it and it’s probably a good idea to pay attention to it. It could be a really interesting experience from the social perspective.

Must-have music: THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT is a band I’ve been listening to for a number of years now. They’re on all of my playlists.

Food for thought: The Cajun Filet Sandwich combo from Bojangle's is something I don’t get up here in Connecticut that I really miss.

How I unwind: I spend time with my daughter and my husband. She’s at a really fun age right now so just hanging out with her is an ideal decompressor.

Day in the life: The daily challenges with the Derby is that it’s such a fantastic event and we have so much collaboration with our on-air production team and our digital team that it's almost hard to narrow down what exactly we want to cover in a short span of a few days. It’s an event where we are able to be innovative and reach for the stars, and come up with things that may not work for some of our other sporting events.
