Minding My Business With Wild Digital And Social Media Coordinator Katlyn Gambill

Name: Katlyn Gambill

Position: Wild Digital & Social Media Coordinator

Age: 23

Where I'm from: Phoenix

Where I call home: St. Paul

Focusing on right now: Focusing on the playoffs (editor's note: the Wild lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Stars). One of the big things that we're doing right now is we have a sponsor photo gallery, which I take photos during morning skate, practices and behind-the-scenes stuff for.

Best advice: Never say no. I used to work with the Devils as an intern, and they had a series of seminars where executives throughout the company would come talk to the group of 30 or so interns. (Former Devils Arena Entertainment President RICHARD KREZWICK) met with us and gave the advice of, "Never say no to an opportunity. Even if you think it might not bode well for your career, you never know." I really took that to heart and went with that.

A must for a new hire: Work your hardest and really prove why you got hired. In my opinion, the first month or so of your new job you're still in the interview process and trying to prove to everybody that you were a good hire.

First thing in the morning: I usually open Twitter to make sure nothing happened overnight that either exploded or went wrong, or respond to any fans if they have questions. Really just check all the platforms to make sure nothing happened on the Wild account. Or that there's nothing massive happening throughout the world, something very newsworthy that we either need to make sure we're not posting anything that could be connected to it or make sure that we have to respond to something. For example, with PRINCE's passing, we had to jump on that quickly but make sure that we weren't overstepping our boundaries either because we are a professional sports team.

Talking tech: I'm a very big proponent of using visuals to tell stories. Through that I have a wireless memory card in my camera that's connected to my phone. Probably my favorite app on my phone is my Eye-fi Mobi app, that sends the photos directly uploaded to my phone so I can take a picture and five seconds have that actual photo on social.

Must-have music: Anything by BRETT ELDREDGE. I'm a big country fan.

Food for thought: I'm allergic to gluten so I have to eat gluten-free. I grew up on Tex-Mex, which is not very gluten-free friendly, so that's been a little bit of a struggle to find really good Tex-Mex in Minnesota.

How I unwind: I do a lot of yoga. I also am a really big fan of spinning and rowing. I try to really decompress by working out and getting my mind off things, putting my phone away for an hour while I'm at the gym. Not checking email or social, just so I can really unwind.

Day in the life: Usually I'll wake up around 7 or so, a little earlier if I decide to go to the gym before work. Make sure all the social channels are running properly, nothing big happened. Get ready for work, head into the office. On Mondays we have a quick 15-minute meeting with a bunch of different departments to see what's happening for the week so we can plan out what our editorial content will be. Then I'll usually head over to practice for an hour-and-a-half to two hours, then come back, enter a bunch of photos, do a bunch of posts on social, then make sure I've been checking with other departments.
