Pick & Rolls: Dwyane Wade Partners With George Gervin In Latest Gatorade Spots

In Ft. Lauderdale, Ira Winderman noted Heat G Dwyane Wade's latest Gatorade commercial has him "on ice and alongside the Iceman," Basketball HOFer George Gervin. The spot was released yesterday, and Gervin and Wade "promote Gatorade Frost line, the 7-11 exclusive Summit Storm, as well as, Arctic Blitz and Icy Charge" (SUN-SENTINEL.com, 4/18). Meanwhile, in West Palm Beach, Jason Lieser noted Wade following the Heat's Game 1 win over the Hornets in their Eastern Conference playoff series wore a "Lyfe Brand cap" to the postgame press conference. Wade "was warned" that wearing the cap for the apparel company "would earn him a fine from the NBA office." Wade "argued briefly before deciding to wear it anyway." Wade has a "long-running association with Lyfe, and it is popular throughout the Heat locker room." Lyfe was the company that "supplied the team with Heatles shirts during the Big Three era" (PALMBEACHPOST.com, 4/18).

SPUR OF THE MOMENT: Spurs F Kawhi Leonard yesterday announced a custom apparel line in partnership with Jordan Brand featuring his personal logo. The line will feature three items, including a hoodie, T-shirt and fitted cap, all of which will be available this week at select stores in San Antonio, Chicago, L.A. and N.Y. Leonard's logo highlights his forward-facing right hand forming his initials and jersey number, where his pinky and ring finger make a "K," while his middle finger and thumb shape an "L," which also includes his No. 2 (THE DAILY).

BEST FOOT FORWARD: FOOTWEAR NEWS' Peter Verry reported Nike has signed WNBA Seattle Storm rookie F Breanna Stewart to a "multi-year endorsement deal." Stewart, the first pick in last week's WNBA draft, "wore Nike throughout her time at UConn" (FOOTWEARNEWS.com, 4/18). SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Liz Mullen notes this comes after Wasserman's Lindsay Kagawa Colas last week "signed Stewart for representation on and off the court." Colas is "receiving calls from brands interested in activating with Stewart for the Olympics," even though USA Basketball's final roster "has not been announced" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 4/18 issue).
