Danny Willett's Masters Victory Could Put Him On Track To Be Richest English Golfer Ever

Danny Willett is "predicted to net" up to $7.138M (all figures U.S.) in "off course earnings in the next two years after becoming just the second Englishman" to win The Masters, according to Ben Rumsby of London TELEGRAPH. London-based brandRapport Sports Marketing Dir Nigel Currie said, "He's definitely set to be England's highest-paid golfer of all time." Currie added, "If he never won another major, his off-course earnings for the next year or two would be in the region up towards [$7.138M]." Currie: "That will continue or increase further if he goes on and wins other majors. There will be a lot of bonuses that will be triggered by this anyway from existing sponsorship deals but, in terms of his management looking for new sponsors now, it becomes a whole new ball game for him." Rumsby noted Willett is "currently sponsored by Calloway, luxury watch manufacturer Audemars Piguet and hotel chain Saujana," and he still has "some way to go to become Britain's richest or most marketable golfer" (London TELEGRAPH, 4/11). Willett said of dealing with the marketing and endorsement opportunities with which he is sure to be inundated: "I’m going to let the guys sort that out while I have a bit of time off and enjoy just what we’ve achieved" ("Fast Money Halftime Report," CNBC, 4/11).
