Bucks Get Approval For Plaza Near New Arena, Name Architects For "Live Block" District

Milwaukee's Common Council on Friday "recommended for approval" a public plaza connecting the new Bucks arena "to an entertainment center," according to Tom Daykin of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The city "will lease that space to the Wisconsin Center District at no cost, with the district then subleasing that space" to the team. A 30-year plaza lease with three five-year optional extensions, which "features an easement guaranteeing public access to the plaza," was endorsed on a 3-0 vote by the Public Works Committee. The plaza is a "key part of the overall arena project, tying the arena to the entertainment center." Also on Friday, the Bucks announced that the "Live Block" entertainment district "will be designed" by two firms: S.F.-based Gensler and Milwaukee-based Rinka Chung Architecture (JSONLINE.com, 4/8).
