NBC drew a 2.2 overnight rating for Jason Day’s win over Louis Oosthuizen in the WGC-Dell Match Play Championships finale yesterday afternoon, up from a 1.8 overnight last year in early May when Rory McIlroy beat Gary Woodland. Yesterday’s telecast also featured a third-place match, which saw McIlroy defeat Rafael Cabrera-Bello, while last year’s consolation match featured Jim Furyk-Danny Willett. Last year’s telecast also went head-to-head with a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Talladega and NBA conference semifinal games.
