Rival Construction Companies Join Forces To Bid For Inglewood Stadium Job

Hunt Construction and Turner Construction have formed a joint venture to compete for the job to build the Rams’ new stadium in Inglewood, sources familiar with the agreement confirmed. The sports construction industry was tipped off to the joint venture after receiving registration emails tied to an April 6 breakfast event in L.A. organized by the Construction Management Association of America’s Southern California chapter. The emails contain an image and the phrase “Turner Hunt -- A Joint Venture,” as a gold sponsor of the event. The breakfast’s guest speaker is Gerard McCallum, project manager for the Hollywood Park Land Company, the entity formed by Wilson Meany, the Rams’ mixed-use development partner. To this point, no contractor has been selected to build the Rams’ $2.5B facility, sources said. For Hunt/Turner, the joint venture marks the third time they have combined forces in a bid to win NFL work after unsuccessful attempts to land the U.S. Bank Stadium and MetLife Stadium jobs. Mortensen and Skanska, respectively, won those contracts in Minnesota and New Jersey. Separately in Inglewood, Turner Construction is building the new Hollywood Park Casino adjacent to the new stadium property. The Hunt-Turner joint venture also sponsored a presentation by Rams Exec VP/Football Operations & COO Kevin Demoff on the stadium project last week at American Jewish Univ. in Bel Air, Calif.
