Reds Open New Rooftop Patio In Hopes Of Improving Ballpark Atmosphere

The Reds will open the Cincinnati Bell Fioptics District Rooftop at Great American Ball Park this season to "draw younger fans by giving them a place to mix and mingle," according to Steve Watkins of the CINCINNATI BUSINESS COURIER. The rooftop patio is "the biggest change to Great American Ballpark this season," and will be "attached to the back of the seating bowl above the left-field corner." It will be available "exclusively to fans who buy tickets to sections 408-410," which will now be called the Fioptics District. The $15 tickets for the 379-seat section include "general admission seating, allowing fans to move around within those three sections," as well as standing drink rails, "giving fans further opportunities to interact." Watkins noted the idea is for young adult fans "to be able to socialize during the game." These tickets will "also have access" to the Rooftop, though that area "won't offer much of a view of the field, but it will include a bar, tables, TVs, and more mingling areas." Each ticket "also includes the first drink, either a 16-ounce craft beer, a 20-ounce domestic beer, a Coca-Cola product or bottled water." Watkins wrote as the Reds go through a "rebuilding phase," the team is "selling the ballpark atmosphere." In addition, the Reds "will continue to offer similar gathering space in the Handlebar, a club area down the right-field line" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 3/1).
