With Popularity At An All-Time High, Univ. Of Houston Football Tickets Selling Fast

The last time the Univ. of Houston ticket sales team "did not have at least 100 new season-ticket purchases in a single day" was Jan. 25, a "product of the football program's success in coach Tom Herman's first season and even bigger expectations for next season," according to Joseph Duarte of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. UH was one of the "biggest surprises in college football last season," and interest in the program "is at an all-time high." UH has "sold at least 2,500" tickets during the 23-day streak. Duarte noted the school "had only two such days of 100 new sales a year ago." At the current pace, UH is "projecting at least 18,000 paid season-ticket packages" for the '16 season, a nearly 23% increase from a year ago. UH AD Hunter Yurachek said the school "is really pushing" to reach 20,000 season tickets, which would represent half capacity of 40,000-seat TDECU Stadium (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 2/25).
