Bulls Unveil Logo, "Windy City Bulls" Name For New NBA D-League Franchise

The Bulls' D-League affiliate has officially been named the "Windy City Bulls," with officials making the decision "from among three finalists nominated by a 'Name the Team' contest in the fall," according to Eric Peterson of the Chicago DAILY HERALD. Nearly 6,000 fans participated in the contest, which featured "Great Lake Bulls" and Heartland Bulls" as the other finalists. The D-League team "will play 24 home games during its inaugural season at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates" from November '16 to April '17. D-League Bulls President Brad Seymour said that the new team "would be an extension" of the NBA Bulls brand, but "also build its own identity." The team currently has a five-year lease at the Sears Centre with "possible renewal for up to 15 more years." The arena will "also house the team's front office" (Chicago DAILY HERALD, 2/25).
