Wasserman Media Group Shortens Name, Simplifies Logo In Rebranding Efforts

Wasserman Media Group is being rebranded and "will now be known simply as 'Wasserman,'" according to Terry Lefton in this week's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. The 600-person company will also have "a new logo with a single 'W.'" Wasserman CMO Denise Durante said that the rebranding process "began around a year ago, with all the strategic and creative work handled internally." Durante said, "We're just doing this to highlight our work, our capabilities and our offerings." Lefton notes to go along with the rebranding, there are "some new titles" among Wasserman's leadership. Elizabeth Lindsey is now a managing partner heading brands and properties, while Steve Astephen is also a new managing partner. Will Pleasants is now COO, and Durante is the company's "first CMO" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 2/22 issue).

TAKING IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL: In California, Scott Reid wrote observers in the L.A. Olympic movement and the IOC believe LA 2024 Chair Casey Wasserman could be the "man to guide" the vision of IOC Founder Baron Pierre de Coubertin from the late 1800s into the 21st century. In just over a decade, Wasserman "has built the Wasserman Media Group into a global sports, entertainment and marketing juggernaut." Reid: "Consider Wasserman as Peter Ueberroth 2.0" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 2/20).
