PATRIOTS.com's Bob Wallace reported the NFL has "ended its ban on team use of free mobile live streaming apps Periscope and Meerkat," but the league "apparently has placed limits on their use by teams, with the streaming of live games still not allowed and with a change to that stipulation far beyond unlikely." Teams can "use the apps a few times a week to capture largely behind-the-scenes footage of training camp drills, weight lifting and chalk talks." Team events "outside the stadium and grounds could also be streamed" (PATRIOTS.com, 2/11).

SUPPLY & DEMAND: CBS Chair, President & CEO Les Moonves following the company's Q4 earnings call said that current strong demand for TV ads "means the networks should have a bigger and better upfront sales season this spring." Moonves: "Advertising is as robust as we've seen in a long time." Moonves said that he expects '16 to be "particularly strong for CBS, as it will include its telecast of Super Bowl 50 this past Sunday," where 30-second spots went for as much as $5M. Local station sales for the game "were up 45%" from the last time CBS carried the game in '13 (LATIMES.com, 2/11).

SIRI SAYS: VENTUREBEAT’s Jordan Novet reported Apple has “published four job postings that reveal the company’s intent to make its Siri personal digital assistant more capable when it comes to fielding queries about sports.” The job postings, with the job title “Siri Software Engineer -- Sports,” are identical. People “chosen for the jobs will work” at Apple HQ in Cupertino, Calif. Apple has “gradually given Siri more sports proficiency since she became part of iOS” in ’11 (VENTUREBEAT.com, 2/10).
