Weekend Plans With Lagardère Sports' Kern Egan: Super Bowl, Visiting Clients

For Lagardère Sports & Entertainment Exec VP/Global Consulting KERN EGAN, this weekend will be spent at Levi’s Stadium enjoying Super Bowl 50 up close and personal. But most of the time prior to the Big Game will be spent hosting clients. “It is an opportunity for us to see face-to-face with a few people that we either currently do business with or might do business with,” he said, “The meetings are either a recap of how the season has gone or what we might be able to do in the future.”

CALM BEFORE THE STORM: I arrived in town Thursday afternoon. This is very much a work trip. A lot of it will revolve around insuring our important clients are being taken care of well through various public and private events. We have plans both inside and outside of our client responsibilities. A lot of our business will be mixing in some fun, too. We are staying at The Marker in S.F. The walk is a few minutes from Media Square. Thursday night is the night before a lot of our customers come in, so we will try to attend some industry parties like the NFLPA party, and if we are lucky, we will hit RON JAWORSKI’s event. We just try and have some fun before the real work starts on Friday.

SIGN OF APPRECIATION: Friday will be a lot of club meetings. We will try to schedule as many coffees and lunches as possible. It will take up most of the day with everyone being in town at once.  It really is a great day to spend a lot of time with the teams. We have NFL International's reception that night, and then head to Bridgestone’s customer appreciation event at the Asian Art Museum. It is our ninth year working with them. We look to keep the program fresh and exciting. This year will feature a collection of past Super Bowl MVPs in light of the 50th anniversary.

TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS: Saturday is more of the same business focus. We are going to be checking out our activation at the NFL Experience. There will be groups from both our agency and the client side. After that, we have NFL Honors, which has become a great annual event to attend. It is a little bit earlier this year given that we are on the West Coast. We end the night at the Boudin Bakery for a corporate appearance by some of the best rookies this year, including some of our own clients.

SUPER SUNDAY: It is obviously not a typical Sunday. This will be my ninth Super Bowl. I missed ’12 due to the birth of my son. It is great that we now get to experience new environments and venues versus what was just the regular rotation of cities. S.F and Santa Clara should be really neat. I am really looking forward to meeting up with friends and colleagues at the NFL's tailgate before the game. That seems to be a time where everybody can relax for a little bit. Most of the activities for work are behind us. Then there is obviously the game.
