Seahawks' Russell Wilson Announces He Has Signed Long-Term Deal With Nike

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson on Friday announced via Twitter that he has "signed a long-term contract with Nike," according to Alec Nathan of BLEACHER REPORT. Terms of the deal have not been announced, but Nike "has to be pleased it was able to retain Wilson and prevent him from joining" Panthers QB Cam Newton and Patriots QB Tom Brady at Under Armour. He "figures to be a prominent piece of Nike's promotional content" in the coming years (BLEACHERREPORT.com, 1/29). ESPN's Darren Rovell wrote he "wouldn't be surprised if it's the biggest football shoe deal yet." Wilson "wore Under Armour all season," but he "showed up to Pro Bowl practice" on Friday wearing Nikes. He likely "benefited from Cam's season," as Nike "almost couldn't lose him to UA" (TWITTER.com, 1/29).
