Lions Part Ways With Senior Exec Who Negotiated Team's New Radio Deal

Parkinson oversaw all marketing
endeavors for Lions
The Lions "have parted" with Senior VP/Marketing & Partnerships ELIZABETH PARKINSON and VP/Marketing & Partnership Activation JENNIFER CADICAMO, according to Kyle Meinke of MLIVE.com. Parkinson "had been with the Lions" since '12. She "oversaw all marketing endeavors," and was "in the news recently over the Lions' split with WXYT-FM," the team's flagship partner. Parkinson was the "key negotiator in the broadcast deal." She said that she chose to go with WJR-AM instead "because the offer was better" (MLIVE.com, 1/27). In Detroit, Bill Shea noted Parkinson "oversaw the team’s deals with corporate sponsors and projects such as creation of the Tunnel Club, the 50/50 raffle on game days, Taste of the Lions, and a section of recliner seats and televisions inside Ford Field under an agreement with Quicken Loans." She had been with the Michigan Economic Development Corp. before joining the Lions, and her hiring was part of former Lions President TOM LEWAND's effort to "modernize the Lions’ business functions into a more sophisticated corporate operation that bolstered revenue." The departures of Parkinson and Cadicamo leave "just two senior female personnel on staff" -- CFO ALLISON MAKI and VP/Events KELLY URQUHART-KOZOLE (CRAINSDETROIT.com, 1/27).

BRASS BONANZA: In Michigan, Justin Rogers noted new Lions GM BOB QUINN elaborated on the addition of Jaguars Dir of College Scouting KYLE O'BRIEN as Dir of Player Personnel. Quinn said O'Brien is "going to oversee the scouting department, both the college and pro sides." Under O'Brien, the team "will continue to have pro and college scouting directors." Those positions "are currently held" by VP/Pro Personnel SHELDON WHITE and Dir of College Scouting LANCE NEWMARK, carryovers from former GM MARTIN MAYHEW's staff. White "is still under evaluation" (MLIVE.com, 1/27).
