First Spurs-Warriors Game Of '15-16 Delivers Record Audience Numbers For NBA TV, RSNs

Monday night's Spurs-Warriors game, a highly anticipated match-up of the two best teams in the NBA, delivered record-setting audiences for NBA TV and the two local RSNs airing the game. NBA TV, which simulcast the game, drew 1.4 million viewers for the first meeting of the two teams. That figure is the network's best audience ever, topping the previous record of 1.07 million viewers for Game 6 of the Pacers-Hawks first-round playoff series in '14. NBA TV, which aired Cavaliers-T'Wolves leading into Spurs-Warriors, set a total-day viewership record on Monday as well. Meanwhile, CSN Bay Area's telecast of the Warriors' 30-point win posted a 16.1 local rating in the S.F.-Oakland-San Jose market, setting a record for any telecast on the RSN. The previous record was an 11.8 for the Giants' NL West clincher over the Padres on Oct. 3, 2010. Warriors games to date on CSNBA are averaging an 8.4 local rating, up 122% compared to last season and on pace for a Warriors record on the channel. Meanwhile, FS Southwest drew a 14.4 local rating in San Antonio for the game, marking the RSN's second-best regular-season Spurs rating. The only game to draw a higher number was Spurs-Lakers on Dec. 28, 2010. Monday night's game also was FS Southwest's best Spurs game overall since Game 2 of the Spurs-Mavericks first-round playoff series in '14 drew a 16.7 local rating.
