WNBPA Dir Of Operations Evie Goldstein Becomes Latest Departure From Union

EVIE GOLDSTEIN is leaving her job as WNBPA Dir of Operations after less than a year, the latest in a string of execs to leave the either the NBPA or WNBPA. Goldstein yesterday confirmed she was leaving her job and said her last day would be tomorrow. She was hired in February after an executive search that was conducted by WNBA players and involved reviewing hundreds of applications. Goldstein: "As things developed, I am not sure that I am the best fit to move the union forward at this juncture. I loved working for the players in this league and I have a tremendous amount of respect for them. And I hope the next person who takes over will continue the goals I have for this union of responsiveness, transparency, inclusiveness and advocacy." Goldstein declined further comment. WNBPA President TAMIKA CATCHINGS in a statement said, "We thank Evie for her commitment and support of the WNBPA this past season and will continue to search for the right person to fill this position and continue the great work the union is doing." Goldstein was the WNBPA's second Dir of Operations, replacing PAMELA WHEELER, who left the union last December. Even though the WNBPA is a union for the women's basketball players, separate from the NBPA, Goldstein reported to Roberts, who was elected to lead the NBPA in July '14. Goldstein also confirmed that NANCY OLISMA, who Goldstein had hired as WNBPA Manager of Operations earlier this year, had left the union just prior to Thanksgiving. Goldstein’s departure follows those of Dir of Int'l Relations & Marketing WALTER PALMER, COO DOMONIQUE FOXWORTH and Dir of Communications TARA GRECO. Palmer, Foxworth and Greco all left in the last several months and after less than a year on their respective jobs.
