Marc Anthony's Magnus Media Creates Agent Business, Lands Aroldis Chapman As Client

Singer Marc Anthony's Magnus Media has created Magnus Sports, a "division dedicated to representing major athletes," and has landed Reds P Aroldis Chapman as its "first major client," according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSPORTS.com. Magnus Sports will team with established baseball agency Praver Shapiro Sports Management, which "represents a number of Latin players." Chapman, who will be a free agent after the '16 season, "previously was represented by Relativity." Praver Shapiro will "handle contract negotiations and other services" for the players, while Anthony and Magnus Sports "will attempt to elevate players' brands through marketing." Anthony appears to be "following a path similar" to Jay Z, who in '13 created Roc Nation Sports (FOXSPORTS.com, 11/30).
